Episode 94: Megasode Part 1 - Donnie Darko

ec9aeb74a55167a0903dc7b1e926e821.jpg

This episode is a super special one. It’s the start of a 3 part megasode, cut down to bite sized chunks for legal reasons, which you do not want to miss. Combining the talents of podcasters from across Melbourne to make something unexpectedly awesome.

We have special appearances from:

  • Shaken Not Nerd

  • San Dimas School of Film

  • Picture This

  • Draw This Out

  • & Cold Soap

If you haven’t checked them out already, do so immediately.

This episode is one movie all by itself, Donnie Darko. Let's go back to the wonderful time of 2001 when men were men, hipsters were doing the things before everyone else and Emos had just being invented.

Starring the Baby-faced Jake/Jack & Maggie Gyllenhaal, and a pretty terrific Swayz-Dog, it's pretty jam packed cast. Drew Barrymore, Noah Wyle (That Guy From ER), Mary (mmmmm) McConnell, and Seth Rogan (saying rude words),

Enjoy part one, and stick around for Part 2 next week. What is Part 2, you ask? You’ll have to stick around to find out.

Episode 93: Breakin' 2 Fast 2 Furious

B2F2F.jpg

Right off the bat, if you have not watched either of these movies, do yourself a gosh darned favour and run off right now to make it happen. They are at both ends of the amazing……ly bad movie spectrum and you need to tick them both off your movie bucket list.

It’s the second movie in our Fast and Furious run down, with the 2003 movie sequel that even Vin Diesel wouldn’t sign on for, 2 Fast 2 Furious. And boy is it up against some stiff competition in the break dancing spectacular and holder of the most amazing movie title of all time, Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo.

Just who or what a Boogaloo is, we may never know. All we know is, this movie contains more neon clothing than an Ibizan dance party. We’re through the looking glass here people.

Strap in your brightest bottle of NOS, because where we’re going, we don’t need roads, or tangible scripts.

Episode 92: Odds and Sods

This week, Fuzzy is back in the hood, John is back on song and the lads are ready to bring it all back to your eardrums. We take a little time to get going again talking about Destiny 2, Videeya Games in general and Fuzzy’s desire to purchase a new telly, because apparently he has too much money.

There’s a brief comeback of Stupid Stories in a brief episode to whet your appetite for next weeks’ extra special episode.

Episode 91: If I did it?

In this weeks minisode, Fuzzy runs through some extra tidbits, specially selected from the WSTP? files.

In a world exclusive, Little Fuzzy makes his podcasting debut when he gets interviewed about every kids favourite topic, superheros.

Then, when the mics weren’t supposed to be rolling, Fuzzy captured the pre-game convo with the lads from Picture This! They get the AM radio Shock Jock voices on and talk controversial subjects.

It’s the last special event before we return to normal proceedings next week.

Episode 90: Evil Dead Poets Society - With Super Movie Bro Dave

In a week where Fuzzy has disappeared into the wild blue yonder, John picks up the mantle and runs down two classic movies with friendo of the show, Dave from the Super Movie Bros Podcast.

Bruce Campbell vs Robin Williams, deadites vs. angsty school boys. There’s a lot going for each of these movies but if you have to choose, make sure you shop smart, Shop S-Mart.

Episode 86: Lock, Stock and Two Weeks Notice

In an effort to maintain our grounding in reality, Fuzzy and John take on one amazing movie and one *sigh* Hugh Grant movie. And the kindest thing I can say about it is that sometimes you get the opportunity to watch a movie that lives down to every single one of your horrified expectations.

Strap yourselves in like Madonna on "Date Night" because it's going to be a rough and ready this week. The lads somehow managed to avoid turning proceedings into a total quote fest through great perseverance and intestinal fortitude.

Luckily we managed to balance it out with some fairly even handed commentary for a movie which doesn't match either of the key criteria for it's own subject matter. Two Weeks Notice does the same thing to RomComs, that Michael Vick did for PETA.

Episode 84: Deep Blue Streak

Deep Blue Streak.png

Right in time for Shark Week, we can say for an absolute certainty that the Ladies Love more than Cool James as the boys hit up two of the most enjoyable movies we've seen in an absolute donkey's age. This episode feels more like an apology for all the rubbish movies we've been talking about lately, but by gum we had a fun time watching them this week.

It's the 1999 super special with Reny Harlin's Magnum PI, Deep Blue Sea, and the proof that Will Smith was just holding back Martin Lawrence, Blue Streak.

So find your nearest aquarium and buckle up your barnacles because it's going to be a Deep Blue Tsunami of fun times ahead.

Episode 82: Sky Scraper And The World Of Tomorrow

SATWOT.png

It's an extra special episode this week, when Fuzzy catches up with the lads from Shaken Not Nerd to talk all things Dwayne Johnson and try to avoid the absolute shemozzle that is Gwenyth Paltrow's acting.

Special events like this don't come along often, but we were feeling generous this week, It's a double whammy of terrible movies as we watch Skyscraper, which is the modern day cross over between Die Hard, The Towering Inferno and a giant turd, alongside the green screen, ground breaking, thing on film, Sky Captain And The World Of Tomorrow.

Stay tuned for a truly ROFL level pun when Fuzzy breaks the minds of his guests, once and for all proving that being hungover when recording an episode is actually a benefit.

Episode 80: Sleepy Hollow Man

Have you ever wondered how.... um.... "handsy" Kevin Bacon would be if he lived his life as an invisible man? This episode answers the question, and the answer is: Very.

I would like to talk about how much fun this episode was to both prepare for and record, but I'm distracted by Christina Ricci's dead eyes, soulless acting and pasty white skin. It would seem that Tim Burton really does have a type.

Fuzzy and John have a great ol' time in the mashup discussing the ever expanding adventures of Bear Detective (see Episode 78: Rebel Without A Paddle) and give him a potential cross over partner. If John hasn't started a Go-Fund-Me to get this off the ground yet, I would be very surprised.

Episode 78: Rebel Without A Paddle

RWAP.png

Pundits, we hope you're prepared, because this weeks episode very much tested the limits of our sanity (until the next episode of course). It's Episode 78: Rebel Without A Paddle. We have the 1954 James Dean vehicle (pun intended) and the worst example of phoning it in on a super obvious level, Rebel Without A Cause. And the 2004.... sigh.... Seth Green/Dax Shepard/Matthew Lillard dog turd fire, Without A Paddle.

If there ever was a week to skip over the movies we watch, this would not be it. You must suffer along with us! FEEL OUR PAIN!

Clearly this is a cry for help. Or a decent into something altogether different.

Episode 76: Natural Born Killer Klowns From Outer Space

It's John's first week picking the show and didn't he just start us off on the right foot. 1994's Natural Born Killers and the hidden gem of the 80's Killer Klowns From Outer Space. In the shadows of the 30 year anniversary for this E-Grade horror master class, we dive head first back into it and revel in it's campiness.

It's all about the bad makeup and cigarettes. Lots and lots of cigarettes.

You'd think that a movie about Killer Klowns from Outer Space might be the weirdest thing we watched this week, but Oliver Stone dares you to hold his beer as he dives into the deep end of the crazy pool. It's something all together unexpected, and yet totally unsurprising.

Episode 73: Purple Rain Man - With Cory from More Gooder Than

Purple Rain Man.png

Oh boy, are you in for a treat. It's Prince vs. Tom Cruise in Who Wants To Be A Giant Douche bag? If you know of two bigger film jerks, I'd like to see them.

This week Fuzzy Dan and Friendo of the Show, Cory from More Gooder Than, investigate the weird world of an extended Prince music video in Purple Rain, and compare it with a movie which you should've watched, but almost certainly haven't, Rain Man. I promise you, it's something all together unexpected and awesome.

I, Fuzzy Dan, being of sound mind and body, recommend the More Gooder Than Podcast. It's 100% essential listening, and I'm saying that totally without provocation or threats of violence.

Episode 71: A Simple Planet of The Apes - With Jake And Tom Conquer Podcast

It's the episode that answers the question, what would time travelling hillbillies and Ash Williams do to survive in a post-apocalyptic world run by talking Apes? You know, the important questions.

This week Fuzzy is joined by Tom from fellow PodFix Network show, Jake and Tom Conquer The World, to talk about the magic of Sam Raimi and the severe averageness of Bridget Fonda in the 1998 "what would you do with a bag of money" flick, A Simple Plan vs. the 1968 Sci-Fi Mind bender which has been spoiled for everyone before they've even seen it (Thanks The Simpsons), Planet of the Apes starring Troy McClure..... I mean Charlton Heston.

It was truly the blurst of times.

If you're picking up what my main man, Tom is putting down, then head on over to Jake and Tom Conquer The World  and download multiple episodes of their show.

Episode 69 (giggle): White Men Can't Gump - With JayLostTheDay

It's your childhood brought back to life, provided you are a) Over 50 or b) born in the 80s, when Fuzzy kicks it old school with White Men Can't Gump. It's everyone's excuse to have a crack at an over-the-top Alabamian accent with 94s Forrest, Forrest Gump, vs. the 1992 basketball street hustling slow motion extravaganza, White Men Can't Jump.

Woody and Wesley vs. Forrest and Bubba, It's the two-on-two tournament you never knew you need to have happened. And to round out the powerhouse duos, Fuzzy is joined by fulltime friendo, JayLostTheDay to give us the inside word on all things Southern and in his usual fashion, to assist in going off topic at every opportunity.

Be prepared with your favourite joke about 'Yo Mumma" because Fuzzy knows Yo Mumma so lazy, she has a stay-at-home job and STILL can't get to work on time. Also, any fans of Jenny, may not want to tune in for this one

Episode 67: Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World's End - With Dudi from Shaken Not Nerd

Do you like Edgar Wright? I mean, do you doubly like Edgar Wright?? Because this week, Fuzzy has all of the Edgar Wright that you can handle in Episode 67: Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World's End.

Fuzzy has enlisted the assistance of full-time Friendo, and part-time Edgar Wright fanboy, Dudi from Shaken Not Nerd, to gush over two vastly different movies and stumble their way to the logical conclusion of this comic-book-pub-crawl-music-adventure-coming-of-age mashup.

It's all happening this week and you don't want to miss the epic final segment where Fuzzy turns into a future bot, bleeds alien goo and offers you intergalactic peace (Patreon Exclusive)

Episode 66: Moonwalker, Texas Ranger - With Sudden Double Deep

What happens when you take two cultural icons and then let them do movies that literally no-one asked for? Found out in this weeks episode, Moonwalker, Texas Ranger. Michael Jackson and Chuck Norris are moving, grooving and spin kicking their way through the bad guys and into your hearts.

One thing is for damn sure, there is nothing quite like either of these two movies.

Fuzzy is joined by two thirds of the excellent Sudden Double Deep - Triple Bill Title Podcast, Darryl and Janette on an interesting look back at some of the most fascinating people of our time. And Chuck Norris.

Prepare yourself, this episode is jam packed full of great stories and worth a listen. If you need more of the Sudden Double Deep magic, subscribe and like them on your regular podcatcher and enjoy.

Episode 65: Home Alone 2: Escape from New York - With Caleb from Netflix N' Swill

It's alive! IT'S ALIVE!!! The mysterious lost tapes have been recovered from the black hole of the interwebs and we're back on track. This week, Fuzzy plays host to friendo of the show Caleb from the essential Netflix N' Swill PodcastWhat Does He Know? Does He Know Things?? Let's Find Out!

Fuzzy and Caleb get a double dose of New York when they discuss the Macaulay Culkin classic, and prequel to the Saw franchise, (?) 1992s, Home Alone 2: Lost In New York. Alongside the movie that Kurt Russell considers his finest work, 1981s Escape from New York.

For two movies that are based in New York, we talk a surprisingly small amount about the actual city itself. Although hardcore Pundits will remember that this is par for the course. Go back to the "Gangs of New Jack City" episode with Donnie from More Gooder Than for addtional ill informed travel advice regarding the city that never sleeps.

Episode 64: Fuzzy Done Fudged It!

In what was due to be an epic crossover with Caleb from the constantly busy and entertaining, Netflix N' Swill podcast, comes a special edition minisode for your listening pleasure. It's the Fuzzy Done Fudged It! special. A proverbial podcasting phoenix rising from the ashes of a burning fudge fest. A Fudge Phoenix, the rarest of all Phoenixes (or is it Phoenii?).

Choc full of mini segments that are almost too unbelievable to mention, Fuzzy tries his best to recover the little scraps of his sanity/dignity/humanity that remain. Not to worry, normality will return shortly and our good buddy, Caleb (first of his name), will be on for a new episode.

Mentioned during this episode, it's the Picture This: Live at the Melbourne International Comedy Fest. event. Yes, Fuzzy will be there, looking his fuzziest and jolliest for the special occassion. If you're in Melbourne, book yourself a ticket for this one-off event.

Episode 62: Touch of Resident Evil - With Nick from Epic Film Guys

It's quite literally the best vs. the worst in this weeks episode when Cinematic Master, Orson Welles, is pitted against Cinematic Disaster, Paul W.S. Anderson (again???) in Touch of Resident Evil. 1958s Touch of Evil starting Orson Welles and Mexican Charlton Heston (no... really) and 2002s Resident Evil starring (say it with me now) Mee-luh Yo-vo-vitch.

Fuzzy finally gets to play host to the man, the legend, Nick from The Epic Film Guys, in an episode crossover more one sided than a conversation with a Kardashian. If you know anything of these two movies, than you'll know that this could only go one possible way.

Or maybe......

Nope. It's a lock. There is, however, a fantastic mashup instore for you this episode. The boys find some hidden gold in them thar' hills. And there is a surprising amount to mine.

Mumble mumble mumble, CHILI, mumble mumble
